The Beliefs Sabotaging Your Progress

Have you ever caught yourself saying things like, “I can’t do it,” “I’ll never be consistent,” or “I always mess this up”? If so, you’re not alone.

Most people don’t realize how often they speak limitations over themselves and how much those thoughts can impact progress.

We’ve all said them:

● “I can’t do it.”
● “I’ll never be consistent.”
● “I always struggle with treats.”
● “I don’t deserve this.”

These thoughts may feel true, but they’re often just beliefs you’ve repeated enough times to accept as facts.

What are self-limiting beliefs?

They’re assumptions you have about yourself or your abilities that hold you back from achieving what you’re capable of.

Read that again: they hold you back from what you ARE capable of.

Start challenging those thoughts

So instead, let’s start challenging those thoughts.

The next time one pops up, pause and ask yourself:

● Is this a fact or a feeling?
● What evidence do I have this is true?
● What’s another perspective?
● What is actually stopping me right now?

Examples

Instead of “I can’t get one pull-up” → “I haven’t gotten one yet.”

Instead of “I’ll always struggle” → “What habits or patterns are keeping me stuck right now?”

Instead of “I don’t deserve this” → “Where did that belief come from?”

The shift that changes everything

Remember, your first thought isn’t the final truth. You may not control every thought that pops into your head, but you can control how you respond to it.

That response may feel uncomfortable at first, but that’s where growth starts.

Mindset matters. The way you speak to yourself impacts the actions you take and the results you get.

Start noticing the thoughts.
Start questioning them.
Start replacing them.
